IT Update: Feb. 2021

The Division of Information Technology staff wasn’t worried about seeing their shadows. Instead, the staff has been busy with new projects, old projects, maintaining systems, and providing support. A few statistics for the first two weeks of the spring semester: 142,972 views of 5,649 Mediasite presentations. For Zoom during the same time period, K-State held over 26,000 meetings with 255,392 participants.

The Data Analytics Project to create an enterprise data store or data warehouse launched in late January. Listening sessions are being scheduled now.

K-State IT policies in Chapter 3400 of the K-State Policy and Procedure manual are being reviewed and updated. View the IT Policy Review Process for more information.

IT staff developed a mobile site to replace the mobile app that was discontinued on Jan. 31. The website can be bookmarked to a device’s home screen. Instructions for bookmarking the new mobile site are available in the K-State Mobile app. App users will also receive a push notification on their device alerting them to the end of service.

In partnership with the Division of Communications and Marketing, the migration of K-State web pages to the cloud is complete.

Meeting Owls and Poly/Calisto sets are still available for distribution. Email Shelley Griffin shegriff@ksu.edu to request equipment. For those who have received the Meeting Owls, online Instructions for Setting up the Meeting Owl are available.

HRIS, KSIS, and DARS will be unavailable from midnight – 4 a.m. Feb. 14. Maintenance will be performed on the Oracle PeopleSoft systems.

The FIS will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, through 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21. Once the monthly maintenance is complete, FIS will available for your use.

KSIS and HRIS are undergoing a PeopleTools and Database upgrade, with the upgrade expected between Feb. 26-28, 2021. More information will be posted on our blog site.

FIS is undergoing a major application upgrade, with rollout slated for December 2021. Concurrently, we are upgrading the FIS Database to 19c with a go-live date slated for March 12-14.
