Students who need faster help on thesis and dissertation formatting — and solutions for pesky Microsoft Word problems — can attend walk-in Electronic Theses, Dissertations, and Reports (ETDR) clinics 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. every Tuesday from Aug. 23-Nov. 8. All sessions are in 301A Hale Library.
The first session is Tuesday, Aug. 23. Bring a laptop and your lunch. Leave as soon as your questions are answered, or stay and learn about ETDR resources and how to use Word more efficiently.
ETDR help topics include:
- How to get a fast start writing a thesis/dissertation/report
- Timesavers and tools in Microsoft Word (Mac and Windows)
- Using an ETDR writing template (Word doc with built-in timesavers)
- Formatting and fixes for Microsoft Word issues
- Converting to PDF
- Reviewing ETDRs to meet Graduate School requirements
- and more
For distance students or those who cannot attend, one-on-one ETDR meetings are available via email, phone, and Zoom webconferencing. Use the ETDR request form (requires K-State eID/password) to suggest meeting times and help needed. Responses are sent within 48 hours.
Updates for 2016
Updated master’s and doctoral templates are available on the ETDR website. The writing templates incorporate changes in ETDR requirements for fall 2016, including:
- Title format: from ALL CAPS to sentence case
- Author name format: from ALL CAPS to name format in KSIS records
