ECC satellite uplink goes digital; videos now in high-def

The Educational Communications Center, K-State’s full-service media production and distribution facility, has upgraded their mobile satellite uplink capabilities to new digital technology and will also upgrade their fixed satellite to digital. The ECC can feed live or taped programs, segments, interviews, or raw footage from anywhere to almost anywhere. It is the only non-commercial entity in Kansas with satellite uplink capabilities.

“The digital satellite broadcast capabilities continue to allow us to provide rapid and widespread uplink distribution to our constituents,” said Robert Nelson, ECC chief engineer. “There is nothing better than digital satellite technology to provide the ability to distribute real-time, high-quality audio and video to a geographically diverse audience.”

K-State TV updates: Mailing list, fall program offerings

K-State TV programming originates from the Educational Communications Center (ECC) and features subjects of interest to the university and surrounding communities. Programs are available 24/7 on Channel 8 through Cox and Wildcat cable in Manhattan, Junction City, and on campus.

  • Join the K-State TV LISTSERV mailing list. Send a message to listserv@listserv.ksu.edu with “sub k-statetv” (without the quotes) in the body of the message to subscribe. You will receive special announcements, weekly program schedules, and invitations to attend live tapings.
  • Inauguration of President Kirk Schulz. The ceremony airs live at 2 p.m. Sept. 24 from Bramlage Coliseum. Also watch for Schulz’s quarterly Presidential Forums that will air on K-State TV.

Watch “Dancing with the K-State Stars” on K-State TV

As a special presentation of the Wildcat Watch program, K-State TV produced the inaugural Union Program Council’s Dancing with the K-State Stars event and will air the program throughout the week. The program features:

  • the pre-recorded interviews that were part of the live competition
  • the performances of all 10 stars and their dance instructors
  • the newly crowned K-State Idol winner singing an original composition
