IDTR roundtable presentations for fall 2009

The Instructional Design and Technology Roundtables are a series of interesting and innovative instructional design, e-learning, and new teaching topics for faculty to learn, share, and discuss with their peers. All presentations will be in Room 212 of the K-State Student Union.

The fall presentations begin with K-State Online: Tools to Improve Your Teaching at 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15. This presentation will focus on the new tools available in K-State Online for all faculty.

The second presentation is Nostra d’academe at 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, where three faculty will predict the future of higher education.

The last presentation for the semester is Virtual Collaboration: Applied Projects and Tools at 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, to learn about collaborative strategies, technologies, and projects.

IDT Roundtable Nov. 12: Podcasting and Vodcasting

The next roundtable is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, Union 212. Brent Anders, Bryan Vandiviere, and Ben Ward will present “Podcasting and Vodcasting”. Join us as we see what’s hot and what’s not, the effectiveness of these tools in teaching, how to get started, how to look like a pro, and where to show off your efforts when finished.

Course accessibility “how to” at IDT Roundtable Oct. 24

“Quick Tips for Online Course Accessibility” will be presented by Jason Maseberg-Tomlinson and Phyllis Epps at the IDT Roundtable 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in Union 212. Using Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files can be frustrating enough on their own, and making accessible content seems like just another step. IDT Roundtable Oct. 24: Quick Tips for Online Course Accessibility

Jason Maseberg-Tomlinson and Phyllis Epps will present “Quick Tips for Online Course Accessibility” 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in Union 212. The online classroom is becoming more and more popular among faculty and students. It shapes the experiences of distance students and it enhances the resources of on-campus courses. Accessibility needs to be considered during the creation of new coursework. Online accessibility is just as important as campus accessibility for students with disabilities.
