Top Hat Summer Camp virtual training July 26-27

Top Hat is offering a two-day Summer Camp on July 26-27. The virtual training opportunity features Top Hat experts and guest panelists in a series of sessions and workshops to learn everything you need to unleash your students’ potential as you gear up for the fall semester.

Day One — Monday, July 26

Register for the training

  • Active Learning Anywhere with Prof. Donna Smith, from 12-1 p.m. — This session will bring you fresh insights and actionable takeaways on fostering active learning anywhere and anytime.
  • Building Your Course in Top Hat – Workshop, from 1-1:45 p.m. — This hands-on session will encourage you to start building your content directly in your Top Hat course, with a focus on developing the key building blocks for creating a successful active learning experience for your students, in face-to-face or fully remote settings.
  • Creating an Interactive Syllabus – Workshop, from 1-1:45 p.m. — During this interactive workshop to learn how to create an effective and highly interactive syllabus that clearly outlines the expectations of the course, along with the “what, why and how” to support student success throughout the semester and beyond.
  • What’s New in Top Hat?, from 2-2:45 p.m — This webinar will focus on the key updates to the professor and student experience within Top Hat, all while showing you how to create a successful active learning experience in any setting.

Day Two — Tuesday, July 27

  • Teaching with Insights with Michael Di Gregorio, from 12-12:45 p.m. — This webinar will examine what teaching with insight means in higher ed and what some successful approaches look like.
  • The Top Hat Student Experience – Workshop, from 12:45-1:30 p.m. — Learn how to gauge your students’ comprehension by leveraging real-time, actionable insight to better connect and engage with your students.
  • First Day of Class Ready – Workshop, from 12:45-1:30 p.m. — Engage with your peers on best practices and common pitfalls to ensure that your first day of class with Top Hat is a breeze.
  • Getting the Most Out of Top Hat – Creative Uses, from 1:45-2:45 p.m. — This session will be focused on creative uses of Top Hat, arming you with subject-specific best practices and proven strategies that you and your students are going to love this semester.

Top Hat is a classroom engagement system that has been integrated with Canvas. Instructors are using the platform to increase student participation, engagement and receive real-time feedback. In addition, the questions and attendance scores can automatically be tracked and synced into Canvas.
