Mobile device tip: How to disable Bluetooth Discoverable

Do you have a mobile device that supports Bluetooth technology? Chances are that your device is broadcasting its existence (and your presence) to the world around you.

“Very cheap Macbook” is an offer too good to be true

Over the last several weeks, an e-mail has been received by K-Staters telling recipients that if they contact the sender, they will receive a “very cheap” Macbook. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s a scam.

Take a look at the e-mail and note some of the factors that should alert you to these kinds of scams. Continue reading ““Very cheap Macbook” is an offer too good to be true”

Q/A: How to add new PowerPoints to my Project Gallery?

I liked the K-State-themed PowerPoint templates mentioned in last week’s article.  When I download them, where should they be stored?

You can add them to PowerPoint’s Project Gallery so they’re easy to find and available whenever needed.

  1. Open the K-State PowerPoint template in PowerPoint.
  2. On the File menu, click Save As.
  3. In the Save As box, type a name for your design template.
  4. On the Format list, click Design Template (or Presentation Template if you use PowerPoint 98)
  5. Save the template in the My Templates folder under the Microsoft Office folder and then click Save.

As a result, the university will soon meet its long-term goal of decommissioning the mainframe and KATS systems on June 30.
