Adobe CS4 Student Select software arrives at Union Computer Store

The new Adobe CS4 products, on the Student Select plan, recently arrived at the K-State Student Union Computer Store and are now available for purchase.  Adobe claims a savings of up to 80% off retail prices.

Macs to be in InfoCommons, Union labs; software suggestions needed

During the winter break, 22 new Apple iMac computers will be installed in the K-State InfoCommons (located in Hale Library) and the K-State Student Union computing labs. Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 tip: The PowerPoint “Ribbon”

In place of the former menu bar, PowerPoint 2007 features a “ribbon” of tools above the workspace for the slideshow. The “ribbon” consists of the typical high-level tabs: Home, Insert, Design, Animations, Slide Show, Review, View, and Add-Ins.

Parallels Student Select now available at the Union Computer Store

Parallels Desktop for Mac, an OS Virtualization software, is now available on the Student Select Program at the K-State Student Union Computer Store for $39.95. Regular retail is $79.95.

This software allows you to run a variety of operating systems on your Mac without rebooting. 

Guest Operating Systems supported Guest operating systems not included with Parallels Desktop. 

Microsoft Windows – Vista, XP, 2003, 2000, NT, 98, 95, 3.11 and 3.1 

Linux Distributions – Debian, Fedora Core, Mandriva, Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu and more

Adobe announces CS4

On September 23, 2008 Adobe announced the upcoming release of Creative Suite 4 (CS4) family of products, which is exptected to begin shipping at the end of October.

Among the products available will be Design Standard CS4, Design Premium CS4, Web Standard CS4, Web Premium CS4, Production Premium CS4, and Master Collection CS4, as well as a number of individual titles. TechBytes Sept. 11: CatPack and KSRE Toolkit software highlights

Come join the first TechBytes session 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in 501 Hale Library. This session will give an overview of the CatPack and KSRE Toolkit software suites available to K-Staters.  They contain a variety of software licensed for use by Kansas State University and K-State Research and Extension, ranging from e-mail clients (Pegasus, Thunderbird) to antivirus utilities (Trend Micro) to audio editors (Audacity) and more.

TechBytes seminars are free and open to the K-State community. The series is also video-streamed live for off-campus viewers and others who wish to view it from their desktop. Use the “View live video” link on the TechBytes homepage to watch the next live video as it’s being recorded. The TechBytes archives contains a wealth of information on IT tools and topics. It includes programs, handouts, videos, and resources from seminars in 2003 to the present.
