May 6: Microsoft Teams L100 training

Teams logoMicrosoft Teams is the hub for teamwork in Microsoft 365 that combines video meetings, persistent conversations, file storage, and applications together in one place. Teams allows people to communicate more effectively and work better together. 

Microsoft Teams L100 training is scheduled 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The session will be presented in Microsoft Teams. Registration is required. A confirmation message with a link to the session will be sent to you after you register.

When you click to join the meeting, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically.

Trainiing objectiives:

  • Learn how to create and participate in a Team, including how to navigate across requested modalities (e.g. desktop, mobile, tablet, etc.).
  • Understand how teams fits into collaboration and a productive workflow.
  • Learn how Teams integrates with Microsoft 365.
  • Work more efficiently with connected apps in Teams.
  • Get familiar with creating and participating in meetings.

  • Experience the meeting lifecycle and how to utilize Teams for better collaboration
  • Learn to schedule meetings from Teams or Outlook
  • Optimize settings to look and sound your best on camera during video meetings
  • Make use of all features within Teams meetings (e.g. whiteboard, etc.)
  • Utilize the meeting recording, notes, and chat for ongoing collaboration

Teams is for more than just communication and collaboration. Host a companywide keynote presentation or host a digital event for larger audiences.

Objectives:

  • Organizing a Teams live event including creation and sharing
  • Presenter functions including screen sharing, audio and video
  • Best practices to consider

  • Utilize best practices for increasing response rates and managing notifications.
  • Use Command/Search bar to navigate and find content more quickly.

Microsoft Teams recordings default location change

Teams logoMicrosoft is changing the default location of Teams meeting recordings. These recordings were being saved to Microsoft Stream under the meeting organizer’s account. As of Jan. 15, these recordings are being saved to the organizer’s OneDrive.

For non-Channel meetings, the recordings are stored in a folder named Recordings that’s at the top level of the OneDrive for Business that belongs to the person who started the meeting recording.

For Channel meetings, the recordings are stored in the Teams site documentation library in a folder named Recordings.

Uploading recordings to Stream is still possible, but you will need to do it manually. Please refer to the Upload a video article for instructions on how:

Oct. 12: Microsoft Teams Essentials training

Microsoft Teams Essentials training is scheduled 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12.

Register for the Microsoft Teams training course and learn ways to be more efficient in our teaching, learning, and remote work environments.

You can also arrange a training session for groups (departments, units, teams, etc.). Complete the group registration form if you are interested in scheduling a group training session.

A team has been created within Microsoft Teams to provide training and support for K-Staters. Sign in to Microsoft Teams and join the team using this link.

Benefits of using Microsoft Teams

  • Reduce the number of emails filling up your Inbox
  • Provides an alternative tool for web conferencing
  • Slick video/calls – without picking up a phone
  • Chat can occur in small and large groups
  • Quick turnaround time on some tasks
  • Use of Microsoft Teams does not require the use of VPN or remote desktop applications.
