Mediasite logoDuring the spring semester, Information Technology Services is hosting a webinar training series focusing on Mediasite at K-State.

This webinar series highlights many of the power features offered through Mediasite. On Mar. 23, faculty will discover how to download their Mediasite presentations and optionally allow students to download content, too. The final spring webinar on Apr. 13 will explain how Mediasite’s built-in presentation analytics offers valuable insight into the effectiveness of one’s Mediasite content.

K-State Mediasite webinar spring series

Mediasite logoInformation Technology Services continues the Mediasite webinar training series this spring with three new topics highlighting powerful features offered through Mediasite. Learn about the benefits of closed captions and how you can implement them in your Mediasite presentations during the 10 a.m. webinar on Feb. 17. The Mar. 23 webinar will introduce options for downloading your Mediasite content, and the final spring webinar Apr. 13 will discuss how best to leverage the insightful presentation analytics built into the My Mediasite portal.

Each 30-minute program is scheduled on a Monday at 10 a.m. and offered through Zoom.

Mediasite webinars available on-demand

The fall semester’s live Mediasite webinars are available for on-demand playback. The K-State Mediasite webinar series features important topics for faculty and staff, including in-video quizzing, working with channels and shared folders, and other useful tips and tricks in Mediasite.

Don’t know what Mediasite is or how it can help you? Want to learn more? See k-state.edu/mediasite/help for step-by-step instructions, detailed tutorial videos, and other helpful resources that will help you get the most out of Mediasite.

Coming soon, there will be an announcement of spring Mediasite webinars, including topics like presentation analytics, closed captioning, and downloading Mediasite content. Details will be posted at k-state.edu/mediasite.

Mediasite is an online video capture, management, and playback system, much like YouTube but with more features, better security, and easy integration into Canvas. Mediasite enables faculty to offer digital media-enriched content to their students.

An introductory training for Microsoft Visio Pro is scheduled 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in 306 Calvin.

About Microsoft Visio Pro

Microsoft Visio Pro is a common diagramming tool that enables the creation of vector graphics.

Some common examples include the following:

  • flowcharts to describe work or research processes
  • basic diagrams
  • BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) diagrams (with built-in validation based on rule sets)
  • database systems
  • floor plans
  • network designs
  • data-created visuals (with uploaded Excel spreadsheets used in Visio templates from MS Visio Online and / or the Excel back stage)
  • automapping of websites to three levels
  • And more

May 7 webinar: Get started captioning with 3Play Media

3 Play Media logoDo you use online video in your courses? If so, this webinar is for you. Closed captions not only help make your video accessible to those with disabilities, but they also can improve attention, focus and comprehension for all students, adding value and improving the quality of your course materials.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, join 3Play Media, a university-approved vendor for transcription and captioning services, for a 30-minute webinar that will highlight the advantages of video captions and how you can use their tools and services to add captions to your videos, including their integration with K-State’s Mediasite video platform. The presentation will be followed by a brief Q&A, so bring your questions! Registration is required.
