Office 365 training opportunities for November

Micros 365 iconsAs part of K-State’s Office 365 subscription, the Microsoft Store provides free training on Office 365 applications. We have scheduled the following sessions with them for November:

Oct . 21: Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Mobile L100 training

Microsoft Outlook logoMicrosoft Outlook and Outlook Mobile L100 training is scheduled 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21. The session will be presented in Microsoft Teams.

Registration is required. A confirmation message with a link to the session will be sent to you after you register. When you click to join the meeting, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically.

This introductory course will expand on Outlook and Exchange Online basics, terms, and features of the Outlook Desktop and Outlook Mobile applications.

Objectives:

  • Understand the relationship between Exchange Online and Email Client
  • Become familiar with accessing and navigating different modalities like Outlook Online, Outlook for Desktop, and Outlook Mobile
  • Become an expert in the navigation of the Outlook for Desktop Client
  • Understand new Microsoft 365 features in Outlook such as @Mentions and MyAnalytics
  • Review advanced topics such as Import/Export and Rules

Required Cybersecurity Awareness Training

Cybersecurity Awareness MonthThis October, The Division of Information Technology will be launching our annual cybersecurity awareness training.

This training is mandatory for all state agencies through the State of Kansas ITEC Policy 7230 – Information Technology Enterprise Security Policy section 8.0 Awareness and Training Standard.

To ensure we are compliant with this standard, all faculty, staff, and student employees will be required to complete this training by December 31, 2021. The President’s Cabinet has authorized the suspension of eID’s that fail to meet the required training after the due date. KSIS Training sessions for Fall 2021 available

KSIS training dates and times are now available for fall 2021. Instructor-led, Zoom based training is available for faculty, academic advisors, and staff at no charge. However, registration through HRIS is required. See Using HRIS to register for classes.

Training for staff and faculty include the following topics:

  • Advising in KSIS
  • Class Scheduler
  • Deans Office Staff
  • Grading in KSIS
  • Master Extract Reporting
  • Processing Minors in KSIS

Master Extract Reporting in KSIS offered monthly in Fall 2021

Training sessions for Master Extract Reporting in KSIS for fall 2021 are now available. The monthly sessions are only for staff who have been granted the Master Extract Reporting permission. The training schedule is set for one session each month.

You must have permission set up for Master Extract Reporting in KSIS before you can take this class.

All sessions are scheduled in Zoom:

  • Thursday, September 16, 1-2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 13, 10-11 a.m.
  • Monday, November 8, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
  • Monday, November 29, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Registration through HRIS is required. See Using HRIS to register for classes.

If the offered sessions do not fit your schedule, please contact the KSIS training coordinator, Fred Darkow, at fdarkow@k-state.edu to request additional classes. Attendees will be notified if a session is canceled and will be asked to register for an alternative training session.

Advising in KSIS training dates now available for Fall 2021

Training dates for Advising in KSIS are now available for the fall 2021 semester. Sessions focus on the KSU Advisor Center functions. Full-time advisors and faculty advisors are encouraged to attend. Registration through HRIS is required. See Using HRIS to register for classes.

Advising training now available

The following Advising in KSIS sessions are provided in Zoom.  Zoom session information is provided on the morning of the training.  The available times are:

  • Monday, Sept. 13, 1-2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1:30-3p.m.

Topics covered during the sessions include, but are not limited to:

  • Advisee information pages
  • Running and viewing a DARS audit
  • Removing advising flags
  • Viewing program/plan history
  • Viewing test scores

KSIS Class Scheduler training available for Fall 2021

KSIS Class Scheduler training is now available for sign-up in HRIS. Sessions are designed for employees new to the Class Scheduler process as well as refreshers for employees who have previously updated class schedules.

Topics include:

  • Printing the Class Schedule report
  • Updating room locations
  • Updating instructors
  • Updating the section status
  • Other course-related details

All sessions are held in 306 Calvin Hall.  The dates and times for the Class Scheduler sessions are:

New Class Scheduler

  • Monday, Sept. 20, 1-2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 23, 1-2:30 p.m.

Class Scheduler Tools (NEW)

  • Monday., Sept. 27, 1-2 p.m.
