June 21: Microsoft Word L200 training

Microsoft Word LogoWord L200 training is scheduled from 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, June 21 in Microsoft Teams.

This course will teach how to take word documents to the next level with advanced features. We will be looking at some of the advanced features including comparing and merging documents, creating and formatting a table of contents, document translation, and more.

Objectives:

  • Review where to find relevant features with the Ribbon
  • Learn how Compare and Merge can save time
  • Organize your work by creating a Table of Contents
  • Gather ideas and thoughts with Comments and Suggestions
  • Learn to quickly translate your work in sections or the entire document.
  • Convert documents into emails with Mail Merge, while preserving
    Formatting Options

Registration for the training is required. A confirmation email will be sent with a link to join the session. When you click to join the Microsoft Teams meeting, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically.

What version of Microsoft Word or Office is on my computer?

Many people have no idea what version of Microsoft Word or Office they are using. That’s understandable. Who can remember version numbers for every piece of software on their computer?

On a Windows PC, a fast way to identify your version is to open a Word document and compare the small logo at top left to the logo versions below.

Grad students and K-State writers: “Using Word to write” sessions scheduled April 16, April 23

Using Word videos now online for ETDRs

The Information Technology Assistance Center has several new videos available to help with using Word 2007 to write your Electronic Theses, Dissertation, and Reports. These 2- to 3-minute, narrated videos show specific examples in Word 2007 and are helpful if you’re just starting to work with Styles.

Grad students: ETDR Word template saves time, stress

Graduate students can save up to 50 percent of their time formatting theses and dissertations by using the ETDR template, according to previous graduates who started using the template in the early stages of writing. The ETDR template is a customized Word document styled to meet the Graduate School’s formatting requirements, but it’s also a good tool to use when writing reports, term papers, and even journal articles (just strip out the template sections not needed).
