Microsoft Power BI upgrade on Feb. 18

Microsoft is upgrading the Power BI Premium environment to Power BI Premium Generation 2. The BI Team has scheduled this upgrade from 10-11 p.m. on Friday, February 18.

This upgrade only affects reports for Power BI Premium users, representing seven groups: Ag Research, Institutional Research, Assessment, Housing and Dining, Division of Financial Services, Research, and K-State Salina. Before the upgrade, the BI Team will contact each Power BI Premium user group to know what to expect and ensure a smooth transition.

All other Power BI users will be unaffected by this upgrade. If you have questions concerning the upgrade, please email biadmin@ksu.edu for assistance.

April 21: Microsoft Power BI training

Microsoft Power BI training is scheduled 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21. The session will be presented in Microsoft Teams

Registration is required. A confirmation message with a link to the session will be sent to you after you register. When you click to join the meeting, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the meeting will open there automatically.

Power BI is a collection of software services, apps, and connectors that work together to turn unrelated sources of data into coherent, visually immersive, and interactive insights. This course will provide an overview of Power BI and how its services and applications work together to connect a data source to begin visualizing data.

Objectives:

  • Learn about Power BI and how its services and applications work together to make your business more efficient
  • Understand the building blocks of a Power BI dashboard
  • Connect a data source to a Power BI dashboard and begin visualizing data
  • Save a Report and share within the Power BI service
