Learn Office 365: Top resources to browse over winter break

Over the holiday break, K-Staters who want a jumpstart on learning Office 365 email and calendaring should check out these top resources created by Information Technology Services.

  1. Explore more than 100 K-State articles on how to use  Office 365: 
  2. Prior to the migration Jan. 6, 2014, do the steps in the Office 365 pre-migration checklist.
  3. Discuss Office 365 socially with other K-Staters. Join K-State’s Office 365 Migration group on Yammer. It’s a social venue (similar to Facebook) specifically for those with  @ksu.edu addresses.  Create an @ksu.edu account first. See K-State’s Getting Started with Yammer resource.
  4. Bookmark and visit K-State’s Office 365 website at k-state.edu/its/office365.

Faculty, staff and student employees moving to Office 365 Jan. 6, 2014

On Jan. 6, 2014, faculty, staff and student employees will be moved to Office 365, K-State’s new email and calendaring system. K-Staters accessing email and calendaring via the web-based version will sign in as usual at webmail.k-state.edu. Those using a client (Outlook, Apple Mail, iCal) to access their email and calendar will need to configure the client after the migration. Office 365: Email messages will not migrate if file attachment is 25MB or larger

In the upcoming migration from Zimbra to Office 365, email messages with attachments greater than 25MB will not migrate. Both the email content as well as the attachment will not be moved to Office 365.

For emails that have attachments larger than 25MB, it is recommended that you download any attachments to your computer that you want to keep, as they will not migrate to Office 365. See the Knowledge Base article How to identify and download mail attachments larger than 25MB.

 

Learn Office 365: Training and question-answer sessions scheduled

Information Technology Services will continue offering “Introduction to Office 365″ sessions throughout December. Introductory sessions will be offered in the Hale Library Hemisphere Room and the K-State Student Union Little Theatre. There will also be opportunities to join Q&A sessions via Zoom. No registration is required for any of these sessions. Office 365: Introductory videos now available

On Jan. 6, 2014, faculty/staff and student employees will be moved to Office 365, K-State’s new email and calendaring system. Learn Office 365: Getting started with email

The campus is in the process of migrating to Office 365. To begin learning about the email component of Office 365, check out the following tutorials and reference guides:

Another way to learn about Office 365 is the Office 365 Migration Yammer group. This online chat allows users to ask questions and share their thoughts.  See Getting Started with Yammer for K-Staters.
