On-Demand Webinar: Managing Mediasite Content Storage
As this wild spring semester draws to a close, now is an excellent time to evaluate the content you have uploaded to Mediasite and remove presentations you no longer intend to use. A new on-demand Mediasite webinar, Managing Content Storage, will guide you through the process of reviewing a content storage report, archiving presentations into an offline format, and deleting unneeded or archived Mediasite content. Every month, updates and new features are released by Canvas. To minimize the impact of changes on our students and instructors during this unusual semester, the new features released in April will not be turned on in Canvas. New features are currently under consideration for the summer semester.

This webinar series highlights many of the power features offered through Mediasite. Canvas summer and fall 2020 courses have been created
The Automatic Course Creation for summer and fall 2020 is now complete. Course shells (except 900-level courses) have been created in Canvas. Student rosters will automatically be kept in sync with KSIS, with student drop/adds happening in near real-time. Changes to the course in KSIS will be reflected in the K-State Online course. To have a 900-level course created, contact the IT Help Desk.

With our new normal of remote teaching and learning, many instructors have questions about how to track learner participation in their courses. Participation can easily be tracked with the built-in Course Analytics Report and Course Access Report in Canvas.

Only use the VPN when necessary
Monday, March 23, K-State will start a new chapter with classes taught remotely for the remainder of the semester. Information Technology Services (ITS) has been working behind the scenes to make sure our systems and services are ready.
We are reminding K-Staters about when to use the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) to access protected, proprietary, and confidential data and campus resources in a secure manner.
Because the VPN connection is shared with all K-Staters, the VPN should only be used when necessary. Disconnect from the VPN when access to protected resources is no longer needed. Remember closing your browser is not enough; you need to actively disconnect from the VPN.
K-State software licenses page is being updated
As we continue to navigate our way through teaching, learning, and working remotely, the information on K-State’s Software Licenses webpage will be updated with new information about the use of software on your K-State computer or your personal computer. Many of our software vendors are offering free access to their products through the end of the semester.
