Kansas State University Global Campus offering its first massive open online course: Health and Wellness 101

MANHATTAN — As access to information on the Internet has increased, so has access to education.

Kansas State University Global Campus is launching its first massive open online course, or MOOC, titled Health and Wellness 101: Everyday Small Changes. This free online course teaches the small, realistic changes that can be made in daily lives to improve health, physical fitness and overall well-being. New generation technologies prepare students for modern-day engineering

Minutes before their next mission, three armed soldiers realize a part from their tank has gone awry. Without missing a beat they identify the problem, print the part, assemble the piece and head into battle.

These are the type of scenarios modern-day engineers predict in preparation for tomorrow, as new generation technologies such as 3-D printers advance and bode an industrial revolution. K-State Research and Extension information technology reorganization nearly complete

The integration of K-State Research and Extension technology staff within information technology services is almost complete.

The last step is the integration of help desk and tech support functions with the IT Help Desk and client services of the Information Technology Assistance Center. This move will begin during the week of Aug. 18. Beocat extends reign as largest academic supercomputer in Kansas

The K-State research computing cluster Beocat is currently the largest academic research cluster in Kansas. Through recent contributions totaling more than $200,000 from faculty in agronomy, biology, chemical engineering and plant pathology, Beocat has grown to approximately 600TB of storage and ~2500 processor cores on machines ranging from dual-processor Opterons with 8GB RAM to six 80-core Xeons with 1TB RAM connected by 40Gbps QDR Infiniband.  Continue reading “Beocat extends reign as largest academic supercomputer in Kansas”

Grade-submission deadlines May 20 for Spring 2014

Avoid Internet Explorer until vulnerability fixed

On April 26, Microsoft notified customers of a vulnerability in Internet Explorer that affects browser versions 6 through 11. This vulnerability has the potential to allow attackers to run malicious code on vulnerable machines when users visit compromised or malicious websites.
