Mediasite’s Publish To Go feature to be removed over winter break

Mediasite, Kansas State University’s centrally supported video platform, continues evolving to meet today’s learners’ needs. After the fall 2022 semester, the Division of Information Technology will update Mediasite, which features a new Premier Player interface.

The new Premier Player will have:

  • Faster video load times
  • Full-screen capable display
  • Improved accessibility controls
  • 360-degree video playback

Due to this product evolution, the Publish To Go feature will be removed from Mediasite once this update is applied. This is because it will be incompatible with the new player technology and will no longer be available. Publish To Go is a delivery method that allows Mediasite presentations to be downloaded as a .zip file and viewed offline through a computer’s web browser. Adobe Comp removed from App Stores on Feb. 15

On Feb. 15, Adobe will remove Adobe Comp, a free mobile app for creating basic page mockups, from the iOS and Android app stores. Existing users can continue to use the app, but out of an abundance of caution, we recommend all users backup artwork and data created with Adobe Comp now to a secondary location or send files to Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or InDesign by selecting that option in the Adobe Comp app. Adobe will continue to officially support the Adobe Comp app through Apr. 29.If you are an Adobe Comp user looking for alternative apps, you may want to try the new Adobe Creative Cloud Express or Illustrator on the iPad.For additional details, view the Adobe Comp end of support FAQ.

For additional information about software available to K-Staters, view the IT Software page.

Reminder: Personal webpage services to be retired August 31

Reminder on August 31, K-State’s existing personal webpage service will be retired. K-Staters with personal webpages are being contacted by the Division of Information Technology (IT) regarding the retirement of this service. If you have a personal website, the URL would be http://www-personal.k-state.edu/~eid.

Example URL: http://www-personal.k-state.edu/~willie

IT recommends faculty and staff publish relevant content, including bios, curriculum vitae, and research information on their academic or administrative unit’s website within the Content Management System (CMS). Using the CMS, every department/unit on campus has a workflow/approval process, based on unit-level decisions, to allow those in their unit to access and post content. Please contact your web manager for the best option on moving K-State-related content to the CMS. Training is required before being granted access to the CMS. For information on training, see the CMS training website. Continue reading “Reminder: Personal webpage services to be retired August 31”
