Zoom “scheduling privilege” allows scheduling audio/video meetings for others

Zoom videoconferencing has a Scheduling Privilege feature that is very helpful when you:

  • Want others to schedule a meeting for you
  • Want to schedule a meeting on behalf of others

Carrying on through snow days using IT tools

Faculty, don’t let a few snow days keep you from holding class. K-State has tools to connect in spite of 11+ inches of snow. Here are some options to consider.

Use K-State Online to post an outline or summary of what you would have covered, in a Word, PDF or other document. Post Q&A sessions on the message board. Provide an audio recording on the Announcement page for students to prepare for the next class meeting.

More than 700 users now on K-State’s Yammer channel

K-State’s Yammer channel (www.yammer.com/ksu.edu) has grown significantly in 2013. From recent stats shared Nov. 6:

  • 711 people are now on K-State’s Yammer channel
  • 336 K-Staters have joined since May
  • 302 people are in K-State’s “Office 365 Migration” network

iPad user group has new web presence

logo for K-State iPad user groupK-State’s iPad user group has a new web presence at coe.k-state.edu/ipadusergroup. For now, we have an archive of meetings and apps that were covered; some suggestions for securing your iPad; and a list of built-in apps.

Included is a link to download our first iPad Resource Guide iBook that we created for our faculty in the College of Education: iPad Settings and Essential Productivity Tips.

Zoom training sessions available in Hale Library on Sept. 11, Sept. 19

Information Technology Services is offering training sessions in Hale Library on Zoom, a high-definition video and audio conferencing tool that is available to all K-State students, faculty, and staff.

Seating is limited and sign-up is required for these sessions:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 11, 3-4 p.m., 301 Hale Library
  • Thursday, Sept. 19, 10-11 a.m., 301 Hale Library
  • Thursday, Sept. 19, 3:30-4:30 p.m., 301 Hale Library

Zoom demo, iPad user meeting scheduled Thursday, Aug. 15

Don’t miss these two IT events Thursday, Aug. 15, that are open to all K-Staters.

  1. Zoom training session and demo, 10-11 a.m. in Justin 163. This is an opportunity to see how easy it is to use the university’s new videoconferencing and audioconferencing tool, which allows up to 25 users per conference.
  2. iPad user meeting, noon- 1 p.m. in Bluemont 16A.  The topic will be announced soon. This meeting is open to everyone who wants to use or learn more about iPads, good apps, and questions/answers on iPad issues.

More information will be posted later in K-State Today.

Zoom training sessions available on campus

Information Technology Services is offering training sessions on Zoom, a high-definition video and audio conferencing tool that is available to all K-State students, faculty, and staff. Zoom video conferencing tool now available to all students, faculty, and staff

Zoom, for HD video and audio conferencing and screen sharing, is now available to all K-State students, faculty and staff. Zoom can be used from any PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android device, or phone line and will soon include H.323 and SIP participants to leverage existing legacy devices including Polycom, Tandberg, LifeSize, and others.
