Shred Day nets 7 tons of K-State paper for shredding, recycling

Document Resources truck holding boxes of paper documents to be shreddedA total of 14,840 pounds, or more than 7 tons, of paper materials were collected from K-State departments July 15 for shredding and secure disposal. This is twice the amount of materials collected for shredding during our October 2013 Shred Day event.

On the Manhattan campus, 6.06 tons of paper documents were collected. The Salina campus collected 1.33 tons, according to Tony Hoover, computer information specialist at Salina. Continue reading “Shred Day nets 7 tons of K-State paper for shredding, recycling”

Departments: Secure disposal of paper, electronic media available all year long

Today, July 15, is Shred Day for securely destroying paper documents

This morning, K-State departments can take their paper records to the following locations for secure shredding at the following times on the Manhattan and Salina campuses:

  • Manhattan campus: 8:30-10:30 a.m. outside the K-State Student Union, east side
  • Salina campus: 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Technology Center loading area, between the east/west wings

Kansas State University has relied on the Axio Learning Management System (LMS) to drive K-State Online for more than 16 years.  While we have continuously improved our learning management system, there are features and expectations requested from our users that make it no longer feasible for us to continue to upgrade the system.

Given the age and functionality of Axio, we have been investigating options for an updated learning management system. After careful research and a year-long pilot of the tool involving more than 120 instructors and 2,200 students, we have selected the Canvas LMS as the best choice to power K-State Online. K-State Shred Day is July 15; document pickup on Manhattan campus for 10+ boxes

The Information Technology Assistance Center is hosting Shred Day 8:30-10:30 am.
