Distance education giveaway website relaunched

The K-State Division of Continuing Education has relaunched its distance education giveaway website and is now providing new, downloadable items for K-Staters, kids, co-workers, friends and all K-State sports fans.

Initially made public in 2007, the website was developed to offer distance-accessible K-State items to individuals developing an interest in K-State’s distance education opportunities, as well as those who had graduated and were considering the university’s professional development options. It also served as a tool to increase K-State’s presence through viral marketing.  Continue reading “Distance education giveaway website relaunched”

Equipment checkout: Mac and iPad adapters for projectors

Are you a Mac or a PC? If you’re a PC user and your computer is relatively young, you probably have no problems connecting to a projector for a presentation in class or a movie night at home. Mac users, on the other hand, have to do a little tweaking.

This is why we offer Mac adapters at the Equipment Checkout desk. Most ports for adapters can be found on the side of your computer. Below are  four options, so you can request the adapter that fits your computer.

If people could splurge on IT, what should they get?

Staff in the Information Technology Assistance Center were recently asked what they would advise customers to get if they could splurge on IT purchases. Suggestions were

  • Extended warranty on computers — Because the extra years of full warranty coverage on Windows and Macs is well worth the cost, and saves hassles and downtime
  • iPad — Who doesn’t want one?
  • A Mac — It just works
  • Things that make a faster computer — Memory, hard drive space, and processors
  • A cloud-based storage service that’s secure, reputable, and reliable — Because easy drag-and-drop of files to/from any computer or mobile device saves a lot of time

What’s on your IT wishlist?  Send your suggestions and ideas to iteditor@k-state.edu.
